Exactly 71 years ago, on June 30, 1952, the Seljašnica run-of-the-river hydroelectric power plant near Prijepolje began operating. The hydroelectric plant had two sets of turbine-generators with individual nominal power values: Pelton turbine: Pn = 463 kW (Q = 0.375 m3/s; H = 156 m), and Synchronous generator: Sn = 650 kVA.
In August 2017, its reconstruction commenced. One set of turbine-generators was preserved as a museum exhibit in the machine hall of the hydroelectric plant. The other set of turbine-generators was placed in front of the Laboratory for Electrical Machines at the Faculty of Technical Sciences Čačak, thanks to the dedication of Slaviša Puzović, B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, a former student of FTS Čačak who is currently employed at Elektrodistribucija d.o.o. Belgrade – ED Prijepolje. The Laboratory for Electrical Machines was founded in 1971 by Prof. Dr. Slavoljub Janda (1931), a professor at the Technical College and the Pedagogical-Technical Faculty, and later at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, where he worked from the establishment of TC (1960) and PTF (1975) until his retirement (1996). The exhibit is dedicated to Professor Janda as a sign of respect and gratitude.
Introducing the Turbine-Generator Exhibit in Front of the Laboratory for Electrical Machines at the Faculty of Technical Sciences Čačak offers students a practical opportunity to become acquainted with the turbine and generator’s construction and components. By having the turbine prominently displayed at the faculty, students can gain hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of how these machines work.
Alongside the already installed wind generator and solar panels, it showcases various methods of converting the energy of water, wind, and sun into electrical energy.
