Students from the Faculty of Technical Sciences Čačak, Viktorija Urošević, Janko Živaljević, and Tamara Luković, spent the summer semester of the 2022/2023 school year on an exchange program within the Erasmus+ program at universities in Italy and Romania.
Viktorija Urošević, a second-year IT student, and Janko Živaljević, a third-year IT student at FTS Čačak, chose to spend one semester at the University of Brescia in Italy. Janko was motivated to apply for the Erasmus+ mobility program by his strong desire to acquire international study experience.
“My motivation for applying was primarily the desire to live abroad and gain new experiences. I’ve always been interested in the stories of our students studying abroad, so I wanted to try it for at least one semester,” says Janko Živaljević.
Viktorija highlights that students receive all the necessary support during the application process and throughout the program.
“Every step was thoroughly explained, and the coordinators at our faculty, as well as the office in Kragujevac, were always available for any questions and support. Accommodation, canteens, and free public transportation were provided for international students. We were also offered the opportunity to attend free Italian language courses, which was very beneficial for our daily communication. There is also a special organization that arranges events specifically for exchange students. The professors were very friendly and always approachable,” says Viktorija Urošević.
Tamara Luković, a fourth-year Information Technology student at FTS Čačak, spent the summer semester at the Polytechnic University in Timișoara, Romania. Tamara says that this was a wonderful experience for her, during which she made new friends, traveled, and learned a bit of Romanian language. She is sure that she will apply for an exchange program again.
“In addition to making new friends, I stayed in touch with some people I met, and they hold a special place in my heart. I traveled, saw what life is like in another country, and learned some of their language. This was an indescribable and unforgettable experience, and I’m sure I’ll do it again. I regret not having the courage to take this step earlier,” concludes Tamara.
Both Viktorija and Janko agree with Tamara that the Erasmus mobility program is an unforgettable experience, which they sincerely recommend to their colleagues. They are confident they will repeat the experience during their studies. “I wholeheartedly encourage everyone to consider applying for this program, as it offers a profoundly enriching experience. It provides numerous opportunities to travel, meet new people, and foster personal growth. During this journey, you don’t just gain insights into another culture; you fully immerse yourself in it,” says Viktorija. “In my opinion, the best, most beautiful, and most useful part of the exchange program is about the people you meet during the exchange. They inspire you to make new life decisions or changes. What is also wonderful is the encounter with a new culture and a new language, which, in the case of Italy, you can easily adapt to. I plan to apply for the program again during my master’s studies,” adds Janko.
The University of Brescia and the Polytechnic University in Timisoara are just some of the foreign universities with which FTS has a long-standing collaboration. As part of the student exchange program, their students have also been granted the opportunity to study at FTS.
